WHEN THESE THINGS COME TO PASS
This study will help to understand the meaning of events happening in the world around us
Scripture reading: Luke 21:29-36
Jesus says:”Take heed to yourselves”.
“Be on your guard”.
“Give attention to yourselves”
But according to the apostle Peter, also attention must be given to the prophetic word. 2Peter 1:19
The prophetic word shines in a dark place, and thus assists in being on guard.
IT IS A TWO WAY ATTENTION-WATCHING PROCESS.
Pay attention to the things around us, and watching thereby unto ourselves.
ALARMIST. Those who talk only about ‘end of times’ or ‘end of the world’, are
called “Alarmists”. They have no solution or refuge.
Others trying to silence down the ‘Alarmists’ by saying: ‘It can still lasts another 200 years’, or don’t worry about the future. They are the people of 2Peter 3:1-7
People say when the year 1000 came around there was a cry about the end of the world is coming. But the situation in the year 1000 with prophetic fulfilment then and now is vastly different.
Even our day compared to the time of the mid 19th century, the Millerite
Advent awakening movement is in many ways different from our time.
Biblical time lines show the difference and the advancement in prophetic fulfilment.
1. Dan.2 takes us to the year 476 AD when Rome became divided in ten.
2. Dan.7 takes us to the beginning of the time of the end, judgment, 1798, when
Papal Rome received it’s deadly wound.
3. Dan.8 takes us to 1844 the commencement of the anti-typical Day of Atonement,
Christ’s ministry in the most holy place.
4. Dan.11 takes us to the time of the demise of the King of the South, Atheistic/
communism and the beginning of the complete healing of the deadly
wound,1989-1991.
Since 1844 we live by events, not by time. There is chronos and kairos
time. The first is exact-time, the other events-time
What about old Bible prophets and their messages, were they alarmists?
Joel 2:1 ‘The day is nigh”.
Zeph.1:14 ‘The great day is near and hasteth”.
Zech.14:1, 2 ‘The day of the Lord comet”’.
Mal.4:1 ‘The day cometh burning as an oven’.
WERE THEY TOO ADVANCED WITH THESE MESSAGES?
E.G.White commenting on Joel 2:1 in book ‘Maranatha’106(RHJuly14, 1903)
“The things that concern our eternal welfare are now to absorb
our attention. We cannot afford to give heavenly things second place”.
“We are living in the closing scenes of this Earth’s history.Prophecy
is rapidly fulfilling. The hours of probation are fast passing. We have
no time – not a moment to loose.”
WAS SHE AN ALARMIST?
“Keep the DREAM alive”, is a standard statement from a radio talk-back program.
But which DREAM do we keep alive, an earthly or a heavenly dream?
“Let us not be found sleeping on guard. Let no one say in his heart
or by his works:’ My Lord delayeth His coming’” 8T252
IS IT FANTASY OR REALITY?
What is our frame of mind after about 150 years or more of Advent preaching?
1. Disillusioned.
2. Disappointed.
3. Complacent, it may be, it may be not.
4. Procrastinating, not now but later.
5. He will come, but rather not today.
6. Abusing others who believe.
7. Firmly, steady, patiently believing, waiting and watching.
You wouldn’t be the first one if you were disillusioned or disappointed.
Two of Christ’s disciples were like that. They were walking home to Emmaus.
See Luke 24:13-34.
Their problem was, slow in believing and misinterpretation of prophecy and misreading the signs.
Christ’s anti-dote was a review of the prophets. Christ took them through the prophetic writings from start to finish regarding the Messiah.
E.G.White: ”We should study the great way marks that point out the times in which we
are living”. LDE14
Based upon Matth.24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 E.G.White gave us the message that the
end is near.
“While these prophecies received a partial fulfilment at the destruction
of Jerusalem, they have a more direct application in the last days”.
“Already the restraining Spirit of God is being withdrawn from the Earth.
Hurricanes ,storms ,tempests ,fire and floods ,disasters by sea and by land,
follow each other in quick succession .Science seek to explain all these.
The signs thickening around us telling of the near approach of the Son
of God ,are attributed to any other than the true cause”. RH Jan.11.1887.
But what is the true cause? THE COMING OF THE LORD IS NEAR.
“The scenes that transpired at the destruction of Jerusalem will be repeated at the great
and terrible day of the lord ,but in more fearful manner”.SB-NT162(Ms40,1897)
We classify the signs as NATURAL, SOCIAL, and POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS.
NATURAL. This we see all around us, on a daily basis, and increasing in force.
The scientific answer is El Nino. But what is the real cause?
Read Isa.24.
SOCIAL. Fear syndrome, with mental disorder and suicides
Drug problem.
Aids and the gay movement.
Social injustice.
Constant fear of an economic disaster.
POLITICAL. E.G.White wrote in 1887:”There is soon to open before us a period of
overwhelming interest to all living”

Here below a list of events occurring after 1887:
1. Atheistic evolution with its results on all levels of society
2. French revolution principles promoted through Marx and Lenin worldwide.
3. World War I followed by the flue epidemic, which killed more than then the war. .
4. Rise of Russian communism
5. Second World War and threat of atomic annihilation.
6. Post WWII expansion of Russian communism
7. Decline of colonial empires.
8. Introduction of the consumer age and materialism.
9. Decline in religious interest.
10. The erection of the Berlin wall.
11. Space travel, landing on the moon.
12. Apparent decline of Roman Catholicism and Papal influence.
13. Uniting the minds of Europe in EC (The prophetic “10” of Rev.17:13)
14. Sudden revival of papal power, being the power behind the plan of a return of the
“Holy Roman Empire”.
15. Secret arrangement between USA and Vatican to topple the Soviet Union.
16. Papal dedication of Russia and the world to Mary, Fatima factor.
17. Fall of Berlin wall.
18 Collapse of the Soviet Union
19. The desert war and creation of the slogan “New World Order”.
20. Europen Union, EU, Clinton’s statement: “Europe United first time in history”.
21. Bombing of the twin towers in New York.
22. War on terror.
RELIGIOUS.
1.Amazing revival of papal power.
a. AD 476 End of Pagan Rome, first phase
b. A second phase of Rome was the iron/clay time, unsuccessful marriage of church
and state. 1260 years of Papal supremacy.
c. Third phase of Rome, time of the deadly wound, which was inflicted in 1798.
d. The collapse of world communism opened the way for the final stage of the
healing of the deadly wound. No third party in the way.
2.Forming of a Christian coalition, Protestants and RC sign an agreement.

3.The Mary factor, increase of Mary apparitions and increase of protestant church
evangelical interest in Mary.
4.World wide preaching of the everlasting gospel, satellite TV evangelism.

2. The prophetic” ten” of Rev.17:12, 13 will hand over power to
the Papacy.

WHAT IS OUR CHALLENGE AFTER THIS REVIEW?
Prophetic knowledge has no salvation power only for warning to be ready and awake.
We are not saved by what we know, but Who we know, John 17:3
Pay attention to Col.3:1-4
Our challenge is:
To seek heavenly things.
To set your mind on the things above.
To be heavenly minded.
To have your life hidden in God through close fellowship with Christ.
